Kate Yanchulis

Kate Yanchulis became assistant director of the Povich Center in 2024. In that role, she helps to plan and execute reporting projects, research, events and programs designed to nurture the next generation of sports journalists. She also teaches sports reporting.

Yanchulis has worked as a senior editor at Just Women’s Sports and The Sporting News. She maintains a particular interest in and focus on the growth and changing landscape of women’s sports.

Additional career stops included reporting and editing roles at the Daily Press (Newport News, Virginia), The Washington Post and Sports Illustrated.

After graduating from Merrill College with her bachelor’s degree in 2011, Yanchulis earned her master’s degree in digital media from King’s College London in 2013. A native of the D.C. area, she takes pride in her deep knowledge of her home teams' many foibles.
